Hi, I'm Shane

I am a Husband, a father, a teacher, and a writer. I've been an 8th grade history teacher in Indianapolis since 2001. I often write about public education, but I might take a notion to write about pretty much anything under the sun, you never know. I'm the author of The Carter Journals: Time Travels in Early U.S. History (Indiana Historical Society Press, 2015). I have written for Patheos.com and the Anderson Herald-Bulletin as well as numerous personal blogs over the years. I am also a do-it-yourself songwriter hobbyist who has written over 350 songs. I may share some of them here if you ask real nicely. :)
